Top Navigation and Maps Apps on iOS in South Africa: Q1 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, the iOS platform in South Africa saw notable activity among the top navigation and maps applications. Here's a closer look at the performance of these apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads starting at 22.5K and experiencing a peak of 29.4K mid-January. Active users showed a consistent pattern, hovering around 830K throughout the quarter.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced steady weekly downloads, beginning at 5.7K and ending the quarter close to 4.7K. The app saw an increase in active users from 176.9K to nearly 212K by the end of March.

Google Earth had a more modest download range, starting at 4.8K and tapering to around 1.6K by the quarter's end. Active users decreased from 20.3K to approximately 15.2K.

MapXplorer: Navigation, Radar showed impressive growth in revenue, reaching $744 in late February. Downloads peaked at 3.2K, while active users increased significantly from 809 to over 6.3K.

LETSTOP saw a surge in downloads, notably reaching 9.5K in early March. Revenue followed a similar upward trend, peaking at $158 during the same period.
